Season Draws to a Close

Another season over, with Grand Final Day played in extreme temperatures. After a very cold winter and finals day washed out, it was great to see the sun..... but not the 27 degree temperatures that came with it.

The day started with our Under 11's Grand Final between St Andrew Blue Saints and Moorebank. Blue Saints had most of the attack in the first half and Moorebank dominated the bulk of attack in the second half. With the game going into extra time, Blue Saints agian went into attack to score and win a gret game 1 nil.

The second game of the day was J1's Moorebank v's Raby Starfighters, another strongly contested game, with both teams looking dangerous at times. With the scores locked at full time, game two of the day was into extra time. Raby Starfighters scored to end the season as both minor and major premiers. Congratulation girls.

J2's Grand Final we saw Raby Kitty Hawks play Moorebank. A game that could have gone either way, with both teams attacking well. Moorebank hit the lead and worked hard to stay there, winning 1-0.

The first of the senior games saw Raby Mustangs take on Macquarie Rebels, with many of the Raby Mustangs backing up from playing in the morning. Yet another great game saw the score locked and nil all at half time. In the heat of the day, Raby managed to step up a gear in the second half to score two quick goals, giving them the Premiership.

Next saw Moorebank Red (the young ones) take on Moorebank Blue ( the old ones) in the C grade grand final. The "old ones" went into half time with a two nil lead. It wasn't long into the second half when the "young ones" scored....... a great second half saw three goals score with Moorebank winning 3-2. Moorebank Blue that is :)

The Macarthur Motors Premier League Grand Final was always going to be a great game. Raby Vipers were the Minor Premiers, Moorebank has beaten them in extra time in the semi final and here they were again....... Both teams played extremely tough competitive hockey, with scores locked at nil all at half time and both teams have a fair amount of possession, the game could have gone either way. Moorebank scored a great goal, obviously a planned move, off a short corner. With a one nil lead, Moorebank worked extremely hard to keep Vipers out as they continually attacked. Congratulations to Moorebank on their 1 nil win.

A huge effort from all girls who played in each of our grand finals, especially those who played two and or three games. The heat was unbearable and the energy level you all showed was amazing. Congratulations to all, especially the winners.   A huge thanks to all who worked to make the day a great success.

Photos from grand final day can be found in the image gallery.
